Article Title: Getting Started: getting started with Linux. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

Linux has been used for half a year, but it is still a cainiao. From the first time I learned little about linux to the present, I feel that linux has made great progress. I am not a professional IT staff, so I can only talk about how I use it. It may not be worth looking at for professionals, however, it is worth learning from for beginners.

The first time I heard that a linux operating system was in high school, there was no computer at that time, and I only had access to the computer several times (dos was used in junior high school, and win98 was used later ), the computer is mysterious. I was surprised to forget whether I saw other words such as linux and unix in a product manual or a magazine advertisement. I also borrowed a lot of books from my computer to learn about my computer interest. The operating system chapters cover dos, windows, OS/2, Unix, etc, I have never seen such an operating system as Linux in my book, but I have asked some people who have never heard of it. At that time, I wrote down a Linux operating system.

When I got to college, my computer was basically engaged in windows operations, and I didn't come into contact with or know about linux users (maybe my social circle is small ). I was interested in it, so when I was in my sophomore year, my computer was very good, but I only used windows. Later, I found that there were many books on information technology in the school library. I went in when I was okay, but the books were old until one day the school library suddenly entered a large number of new books, there are some books about linux. Although there are a limited number of books, I am quite satisfied. By reading these books, I know what linux is and how linux comes from, however, I encountered some obstacles in learning operations. Almost all linux systems are command lines, which are very powerful. Unfortunately, I cannot remember them, and I have no actual computer operations, therefore, although linux has strong functions, it is difficult to learn and use it. After all, it is the most difficult part to learn about computers.

When I was almost a senior, I bought a computer in my house. It was a brand-name computer of XX brand. I remember that when I moved my computer home, I was very excited. I immediately connected Various connection lines and started the system... Start... It turns out to be a bare metal with no operating system in it! At that time, I was really anxious to turn around and feel overwhelmed. I didn't even have a system installation disk in my hand. I guess I couldn't borrow it (when I had a few computers in my house ). Finally, I rode my bicycle for dozens of Miles and went to the city to find out where I had purchased computer dishes. When I went in, I checked the dishes in order to find the operating system installation disk, I visited the entire computer city and bought three dishes for the last 10 yuan. The most important thing was win98's system disk (which was pirated and had no money to buy genuine versions). I installed the system immediately after I went home, and various software. Win98 was a relatively successful system developed by Microsoft. At that time, the game was so compatible that I still miss Windows 98. Since at that time, the computer was always studied, so the system often crashed. The only way was to reinstall the operating system. This was so repeated reinstallation that I was very disgusted. So I thought of the linux operating system. I heard that it is a relatively stable and rarely crashed OS. Now I have a computer, and it doesn't matter how I try it. I know it in practice! If you don't hesitate to install linux, you can at least perform a self-test on your previous linux learning to see if it is true. So I went to the same place and bought the redhat 7.2 system disk. There were two in total. I installed a dual system, learned linux, installed it, and tried it. It was already a GUI, the system is very stable, and there have been no problems such as crashes. However, after a while, I found that I didn't know what to do on it, the office software was not easy to use, and there were very few required software, I also don't need programming or other functions. There is a game that I like very much, that is, tux racer. However, I just had a good time playing on my machine, very slow (I know the reason is that the sis chip does not support opengl, so the performance in linux is poor), and gradually the number of times is getting fewer and fewer.

Later, when I used cat dial-up to access the Internet, I basically no longer needed linux, and electronic products were quickly updated. In order to keep up with the times, I changed a machine and installed Broadband, the newly installed system is also very good for xp. If there is no problem, it may be used like this. However, in recent years, the country has been fighting piracy for so long, when I think that most of my systems and software are pirated, I suddenly feel that it is not very comfortable. windows and office are really too expensive and I cannot afford them, but this cannot be called the reason why I can use piracy with peace of mind, so I decided to use less or not pirated as much as possible. Now I suddenly thought of linux I used n years ago. linux is free of charge. I searched the internet and found a simple Ubuntu, so I started learning linux again. We installed vmware virtual machines in xp and downloaded UBUNTU virtual images. We were pleasantly surprised to find that linux has greatly improved its ease of use, it basically meets my needs. After using a virtual machine for a month, I felt a little uncomfortable. I decided to use the hard disk livecd method and use livecd on the hard disk instead of ubuntu. fs and swap. fs stores files and acts as swap partitions. It has been used for more than two months and has found that linux has also made great progress in the driver, the drivers on both my office and home computers have been identified and automatically installed with drivers. Unfortunately, USB-based broadband cats are used in the house and cannot access the Internet in linux, later, I became familiar with it and thought that livecd was always boring. So I re-planned the partition under xp and installed linux on the hard disk. After setting network parameters in the office, Ubuntu can directly access the internet. There is no problem, but the problem of the home broadband cat has not been solved, so I searched the internet and found that USB cat is ready for use in linux, however, you need to install the firmware on your own. It took a weekend to solve the problem. I think linux has made great progress in terms of hardware compatibility, drivers, and common software, and the ease of use has also been greatly improved. It should be said that, as an operating system that is used by common users or used for work, the network, multimedia, and office software can all meet the requirements, and the security is extremely high, it can be said that linux is already a very good operating system on the desktop. We recommend that you use this operating system.

Linux has made great progress, but there are still some problems restricting its popularity. The first is the hardware problem. Many hardware manufacturers do not have any drivers in linux. Some remote hardware is difficult to find drivers, and the latest hardware and peripheral equipment are not well supported; the second is the software problem. The number of software in linux is much smaller than that in windows, and some heavyweight software such as flash and autoCAD is missing, many proprietary software versions, such as windows and linux, affect people's use and popularization of linux. Third, linux does not provide good support for games, almost all popular games are on windows, and only a few games have the linux version, while the number of linux games is small, in addition, playability, playability, and game images are significantly different from those in windows.

For those who do not want to use pirated products, who do not want to buy software or who have no money to buy software, who access the Internet every day, and who do not want to fight against the virus every day, or who want to learn new things, we recommend that you try linux! (Ubuntu can be used for beginners)
