The software required for this tutorial

Before you begin, you need to download and install the following software on your computer:

NetBeans IDE 6.0 Web & Java EE.

Java Standard Development Kit (JDK) version 5.0 or version 6.0.

Glassfish V2 or Tomcat Web Server, both of which can be installed in the NetBeans IDE 6.0 Setup program.

The client interface is shown below, which contains all the data received from the WEB service:

At the end of this tutorial, the functionality of the application will include providing the text to be checked, invoking the operation on the Web service, and rendering the results. The IDE generates all the code needed to contact the WEB service and send the text. The spelling checker Web service will handle the rest, identifying misspelled words and providing a list of suggested alternatives.

Note: The spelling checker Web service used in this tutorial is provided by CDYNE Corporation. CDYNE develops and sells a comprehensive set of data enhancements, data quality and data analysis WEB services and business intelligence integration, and provides support. The spelling checker Web service is one of the Web services provided by CDYNE. Note that for applications that are based on one or more Web services, their capabilities depend on the reliability and availability of these Web services. However, CDYNE's FAQ points out that its products target "100% availability" and that in "natural disasters, terrorist activities, or other disasters, W EB service streams will be delivered to our level two data center". NetBeans appreciates CDYNE's contribution to this tutorial and its support for its development.

Use the spelling checker Web service

To use a Web service, we need to create a Web service client. NetBeans IDE 6.0 provides a client-creation tool for creating Web Service clients: The Web Service Client Wizard can generate code to find Web services. It also provides tools for developing a WEB service client that has been created-a work area made up of nodes in the Projects window. These tools are part of the standard NetBeans IDE installation, which can be used directly from the box without requiring any plug-ins.
