On the left side of the Save As, Open dialog box, there is a My Places bar, which saves you the time to access folders and makes it easier to access files in some folders. After you update the My Places bar in a dialog box, these changes apply to the other dialog boxes that contain the My Places bar.
By default, the My Places column contains shortcuts to the My Recent documents, desktop, My Documents, my computer, and My Network Places folders. Users can add a folder shortcut to the My Places bar (up to 256), but you cannot add a shortcut to a file to the My Places bar.
One, add "my location"
1. On the File menu, click Save As ... to open the Save As dialog box.
2. In the Save in list, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that contains the folder where you want to create the shortcut in the My Places bar.
3. If this is a folder at a lower level, in the middle of the dialog box, click to select the folder that you want to add to the My Places bar.
4. Open the Tools menu and click Add to my location. The shortcut is added to the bottom of the My Places bar.
Second, remove the shortcut from the My Places Bar
1. On the File menu, click Save As to open the Save As dialog box.
2. In the My Places Bar, right-click the shortcut you want to delete, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.
Tip: You can only delete shortcuts that you add to the My Places bar, and you cannot delete the default shortcuts (such as My Documents) unless you are editing the Microsoft Windows registry.
Third, rearrange the shortcuts on the My Places Bar
1. On the File menu, click Save As to open the Save As dialog box.
2. On the My Places Bar, right-click the shortcut you want to move, and then select Move Up or Move Down on the shortcut menu.
Change the size of the icons on the My Places Bar
1. On the File menu, click Save As ... to open the Save As dialog box.
2. Right-click the My Places bar, and then click Small icon or Large icon on the shortcut menu.
