Indentation refers to the distance between text and page boundaries. There are several ways to indent a paragraph, but be sure to select a paragraph before setting it or place the insertion point in the paragraph you want to indent.
First, use the Formatting toolbar
There are two buttons for paragraph indents on the Formatting toolbar: Decrease indent, increase indent. " With these two buttons, you can indent the left edge of a paragraph to the default or custom tab stop position.

On the horizontal ruler, there are four paragraph indent sliders: first line indent, hanging indent, left indent, and right indent. Press and hold the left mouse button to drag them to complete the appropriate indentation, if you want to accurately indent, you can drag while holding down the ALT key, the ruler will appear when the scale. which
First Line indent: Indents the first line of a paragraph to the right, and the remaining lines are not indented in paragraphs. Its shape is inverted triangles.
Hanging indent: The first line of a paragraph is not indented, and the remaining lines are indented. The shape is a positive triangle.
Left indent: Indents a paragraph as a whole to the right. Its shape is rectangular.
Right indent: Indents a paragraph as a whole to the left, and the shape is a positive triangle to the right of the horizontal ruler.
Note: When you use the slider on the ruler for hanging indents, you need to do so on the first line indent, or you will cause the results in the animation.
Third, use the Paragraph dialog box
Perform the format → paragraph, and in the indentation section of the Indent and Spacing tab, you can set various indentation types for a paragraph.
Tip: In various indent measure units and settings, you can open the tools → options → general tab, select in the units of measure list, and select the Use character units check box if you want to indent in character units.
In addition, you can use the TAB key to indent and indent the first line of a paragraph. First, perform the tools → autocorrect options → AutoFormat As You Type tab, and under automatically implement as you type, select the Use tab and BACKSPACE to set left indent and first line indent check boxes. To indent the first line of a paragraph, press the TAB key once at the beginning of the first line, and continue pressing the TAB key, then the entire paragraph is left indented; to indent the entire paragraph, you can first place the insertion point at the beginning of a row other than the first row, and then press the TAB key.
