Getting Started with Word Animation Tutorial 3: Opening a document as read-only

You can avoid changing the contents of the current document by opening the document as read-only. Useful when working with some important documents.

The specific steps are as follows:

1. Execute "file → open", pop-up Open dialog box.

2. In the Files and Folders list box, select the document you want to open.

3. Click the Drop-down button to the right of the Open button and select the open as read-only command from the Drop-down menu.

Note: When you open a document as read-only, the document name on the right side of the window title bar will add read-only. At this point, the document can not be saved with the original file name, so as to protect the original document. To save changes to it, you can change the name of the disk.
