Getting Started with Word animation tutorial 31: Setting up a drawing table

You can accurately position a picture or drawing object by using a grid, and you can change the size of a drawing object precisely. You can set up the drawing grid by following these steps:

1. Click the Drawing Grid button in the Document Grid tab of the Page Setup dialog box. You can also open the Drawing Grid dialog box by clicking the Drawing button on the Drawing toolbar and selecting the drawing Grid command from the menu that pops up.

2. Set alignment options. The Snap objects to grid item enables you to always snap or move a picture (or graphic) object in a document, either as a grid line or as a grid unit. Clear to make the object move at will.

3. In the grid area, set the smallest unit in the horizontal and vertical direction of the picture or drawing object, respectively.

4. Select the Show Gridlines on screen item to display gridlines on the screen.

Other settings:

1. "Align objects with other objects" to align drawing objects with adjacent existing other objects.

2. Change the starting point of the grid line: In Grid origin, you can specify the start coordinates of the grid in the horizontal start and vertical start boxes.

Tips:

If the object and Grid snap item is selected, hold down the ALT key and drag and drop the drawing object to temporarily block the grid settings and move the object freely. While holding down the CTRL key, you can also achieve the same effect by using the arrow keys.
