However, in the process of actually accessing the shared resources, many friends always complain that when accessing a target shared resource in a server system, the shared files that were mistakenly deleted or modified cannot be restored as normal as the local Recycle Bin, and if the network administrator simply recovers the server system with its own data restore function, It is also possible to return the shared content of some access users to the state before the data backup, and it is not advisable to simply restore the shared content that was accidentally deleted. In fact, in a server environment where Windows Server 2008 systems are installed, we can skillfully utilize the system's ever-intensifying shadow copy capabilities to achieve arbitrary data recovery operations, eventually allowing Windows Server 2008 to share resources to "rewind".

Realize the idea

Although the Windows Server 2003 Server system already has shadow copy capabilities, this feature has been significantly enhanced in the Windows Server 2008 system environment to properly borrow shadow copy capabilities we can create point-in-time replicas of the target shared folders in the server. When a shared resource is accidentally deleted or mistakenly modified by a user in the future, we can try to access the shared folder replica at the corresponding point in time to restore the shared content at a particular point in time to the state before the error deletion or modification operation. Of course, to properly use the shadow copy feature, we have to install and configure this feature in the Windows Server 2008 Server system and install the appropriate client program on the LAN workstation system.

Configured in the server system, after the shadow copy function is installed, we must remember that when the shared folder is in a normal state, the time copy is created in time, and when the target share is accidentally modified or deleted, the LAN user only needs to open the Properties Settings dialog box of the shared folder on the client system, and then enter the " Previous versions of the Options settings page, select a point-in-time shadow copy that is listed in the page, and then click the Restore button to make the target shared resource "rewind". Of course, when creating point-in-time shadow copies, we have to choose a time point to create a shadow copy every time a significant change occurs in the target shared folder, rather than creating a shadow copy frequently, otherwise it is difficult to accurately and quickly select to the right point in time for data recovery.

Implementation steps

To allow the target shared folder in the Windows Server 2008 Server system to "rewind time," we first need to enable the shadow copy feature for the target shared folder, and in doing so we must first log on to the Windows Server 2008 service with a privileged account System desktop, click Start/Programs/attachments/Windows Explorer, and in the Pop-up System Explorer window, locate the disk partition where you saved the destination shared folder, right-click the partition option, and click the Properties option in the right-click menu. Enter the properties dialog box for the corresponding disk partition; Click the shadow Copies tab in the dialog box. Enter the option settings interface shown in Figure 1, where you select the disk volume where the destination shared folder is saved, and then click the Enable button in the corresponding interface, and when a prompt dialog box appears on the system screen as shown in Figure 2, Click the Yes button in the dialog box so that the Windows Server 2008 Server system automatically enables the shadow copy feature of the destination shared folder by default.
