It can be seen that GNOME 2.24 not only has a huge change in the system's internal aspects, but developers also intend to promote these changes to the external aspects: richer and more flexible theme, the brand new wallpaper and 256x256 Large system icons will show people a brand new GNOME desktop environment.
GNOME 2.26
After GNOME 2.24, it is still the GNOME 2 series, rather than the expected GNOME 3 series. You don't need to worry too much. After all, after GTK + 3 is gradually applied, GNOME 3 development can be put on the agenda.
For GNOME 2.26, there is only one general blueprint. gnome-volume-control in the Media component may be replaced with PulseAudio mixer, PowerManager will apply yykit and ConsoleKit, and Evolution will apply WebKit.
