Google today released the Go Language 1.3 beta1 version.
Go 1.3 does not introduce new language features, it just makes some improvements and resolves some bugs and user feedback in the language.
The main improvements to Go 1.3 are as follows:
- The linker and compiler have been significantly improved to compile programs faster, especially for large applications.
- The go compiler generates binary code with improved performance and less memory, and now has a faster, more efficient garbage collector, and an overridden regular expression handler.
- 4 new support platforms have been added: Oracle Solaris, Plan 9, FreeBSD, and Google's NaCl (Native Client).
- Windows 2000 is no longer supported
