On UDS, Google developer Thomas Bushnell introduced Google's internal staff using Goobuntu Based on Ubuntu.

Goobuntu is based on the Ubuntu LTS (long-term support ). Goobuntu does not customize the default Ubuntu interface. It focuses on "System Security. For this reason, Goobuntu removes work-sensitive applications such as Ubuntu One.

According to Thomas Bushnell, each Ubuntu LTS version upgrade costs a lot for Google: The entire upgrade process can be up to four months, and each system restart/change can cost $1 million USD.

The Ubuntu 10.04 LTS currently used by Google will be upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS In the next year.
