Google applies for patents based on news quality sorting search results

According to the patent application documents obtained by Reuters in May 5, Google Inc., a leader in the online search industry, has applied for U.S. and international patents for technologies that sort the news of its website based on the quality of news sources.
Google's search engine currently automatically retrieves about 4,500 news sources and highlights important news based on popularity and timeliness. However, the company did not disclose the complete details of the sorting system.
Industry observers said that over time, Google News content has become more dependent on well-known News providers.
A Google spokesman confirmed that the company had applied for the above patents, but refused to comment on whether the company would use the technology or whether it was already using it.
Google's patent application technology may help the company select the most reliable news source. However, some network critics point out that it will make it biased towards mainstream news sources.

Google acknowledges that this software involves some potential private information, but it does not submit information to unencrypted websites when processing requests such as secure websites, Cookies, and passes, this information may be temporarily stored by Google. The company has already set up a private page for the software to collect information.
