At the end of the 1990 s, Ben pages and Serge Blin, a computer doctoral student at Stanford University, discovered a new Internet search computing method. They proposed a very creative idea: scanning Ethernet connection nodes to determine the browsing frequency of web pages. Today, Google, the global search giant, was born with this idea. Google has made a qualitative leap in Internet search.
Today, the 31-year-old Peggy, who has a gentle tone and a slightly gray but shiny hair, has become the world's focal point. As the president of the product department, he devoted himself to planning the bright future of Google. Ben Elgin, a Business Weekly reporter, has an exclusive interview with Page. The interview talked about the future development prospects of search technology and the relationship between him and another co-founder, Serge Blin. The following is an interview piece:
Q: At the early stage of Google's creation, you and Blin have mentioned many times that they want to copy the Star Trek computer. Can you talk about the current situation?
A: Well, it seems that Star Trek has no attraction. It takes a while to give answers to random questions. I think Google is doing much better. People need a smarter computer.
To a large extent, the Internet has become a super library. Imagine that you have a reference library containing all the knowledge that Google can provide, and the query work can be completed in an instant, the whole world will change.
Q: Where is the development history of today's search technology?
A: As of today, people have always underestimated the importance of searching. Search provides a vast space for technology, functions, and information. In just a few years, Google's search archives have increased from 30 million to more than 2 billion. There is unlimited space for commercial activities on the search stage, and a large number of companies will realize new value in this field.
The search field will attract people's full attention, and people always hope to have a reliable source of information. Suppose you want to do a medical examination, know what the disease is, or make a commercial transaction, what you want is objective and fair information.
The final search engine needs to have a fundamental understanding of the world, which provides always reliable information. We are far away from this standard.
Q: Google's competitors are trying to create a search function that scans personal local machine hard drives, emails, and other sensitive information. Does Google have such plans?
A: The services provided by Google are organized around the world. Of course, the more information you have, the more accurate the search results will be. Different search methods may also involve various problems, such as privacy issues. I also hope that Google can have more information.
Q: Have Google considered cooperating with a Linux desktop company?
A: I cannot comment on what Google will do in the future. First of all, I am not very clear about it. Everything we do is random. Sometimes we may be doing more than 10 jobs at the same time.
