Google is about to test the hot air balloon WiFi and has applied for a license from the FCC

Google's "Project Loon" is a Project being launched by Google X lab. Recently, according to a new file proposed by Google to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Google may be preparing to test its hot air balloon for network transmission in the us next year.

According to the document, Google has applied to the US Federal Communications Commission for a license to test wireless transmission using the millimeter wave band in 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. Although the Project Loon name is not specifically mentioned in this application, this file was submitted by Astro Teller, head of Google X lab.

The Project Loon program is to release a large number of hot air balloons in the atmosphere. In this way, a wireless network is built to provide wireless network services for areas in the world that lack the corresponding communication infrastructure. Although flying these balloons in the United States is a bit strange, it seems that Google is testing for a longer-term plan. Google believes that if Project Loon can cooperate with telecom companies, it may evolve into a business worth billions of dollars. Google's ambition is indeed great. The combination of the Project Loon Project and Project Fi may mean that Google has a bigger game.

As early as October this year, Google announced that it would conduct a Project Loon test. It is said that tests will be conducted in Indonesia and Sri Lanka next year.

The US-based test may start as early as January 1 next year, and may last for up to 24 months.
