Google celebrates 15 birthday
Google search Development process
To celebrate the 15 birthday, Google held a conference in Thursday at the garage where it launched a new "Hummingbird" (hummingbird) algorithm to interact with users in a more humane way and provide more immediate answers.
Search engines have long trained us to use similar rhythms and vocabulary to search for various content, but Google's hummingbird algorithm has gradually abandoned traditional models, allowing us to use search engines in a more natural way.
Google has quietly used the hummingbird algorithm for about one months, providing better answers to more complex search requests. Google has recently blocked more page traffic from its content partners by answering more questions for its users. And with Google's latest revision, this trend seems likely to continue.
To celebrate the 15 anniversary of Google's birth, the company highlighted the next steps in its roadmap: intelligent capabilities. These features will go beyond the services that Google now offers. While the current design is more mobile than desktop, there are two innovations that return answers rather than results: a new contrast engine and a better filter-the latter can help users achieve a more natural dialogue with Google via mobile devices.
For example, the new contrast engine advises users to let Google "contrast the butter with olive oil" or "contrast the earth with Neptune". Google's efforts to develop this feature are also a matter of concern, compared with the original selling point of Google's rival, Wolfram Alpha.
With the new filter, users can also order the phone "tell me more about impressionist artists", Google can provide such artists more background information, or other genres of content. While Google is not entirely copying Microsoft Bing, it is noteworthy that Google's background and design on the mobile side have much in common with the search results returned by Google on the desktop side.
Google is also committed to providing "more unified design" in mobile search applications and focusing on providing answers to users, rather than search results.
"We will continue to improve Google search, so that it is more for you to share some heavy tasks." "This will provide you with the best answers, facilitate the dialogue, and even give you help before you ask questions," Amit Singhal, senior vice president of Google Search, Amit Singh in a blog post. I hope we can save you a few minutes of valuable time every day. So, ask Google to ask more tricky questions--which will keep us alert all the time! After all, we're just getting started. ”
According to Singh, the hummingbird algorithm can use more complex search requests to better understand the concept of words, not just the text itself, but also to establish a link between the various concepts.
The advent of the Google Now and Hummingbird algorithms suggests that Google increasingly sees itself as an agent that interacts with its users, not just portals to other sites. The future goals of Google's research and development department may be more ambitious, perhaps providing medical diagnostics and personalized voting guides, even for "Why are we here?" This is a question that only belongs to the real world to answer. (Book PEI)
