[It168 news] Google Developer Conference, held in Beijing on April 9, June 5, introduced its next-generation product Google wave and the HTML 5 standards behind it to participants. Chris DiBona, open-source advocates and head of Google's open-source manager, said Google wave will develop source code using the BSD Protocol in the future.
From Google wave introduction and demonstration by Dave Burke, Engineering director of Google's mobile product team, we can see the role of "integration" on the Internet. The technologies used by Google wave are basically common at present, such as e-mail, Im, documents, blogs and images. In wave, you can create an email in Rich Text Format and edit it with the relevant person at the same time. All the participants can view the edited area at the same time, if you are interested in the history of email editing, you can use a progress bar style tool to find all the modifications. Another interesting thing is that if the pictures you share in the wave are published to the blog, the comments on these pictures in the wave will also be displayed on the blog, make collaboration everywhere.
Google wave is only an experimental work of the next version of HTML 5 in the HTML language. In the introduction by Google's vice president worldwide and Lee Kaifu, president of Greater China, he mentioned five main functions of HTML 5:
· Direct control of image editing in the browser, which can reach the pixel level;
· It makes it easy to integrate and edit videos, or even modify each frame of the video;
· Easily identify the location of each netman, making the map application more refined;
· Using application caching and database technology, network applications are everywhere and network disconnection becomes a historical issue;
· The multithreading function provided by web workers can execute tasks in the background without affecting the user interface.
For Google's recently released o3d platform for developing Multimedia Animation, Kaifu Lee said Google is also trying to make it part of HTML 5, it is possible to develop 3D graphics and 3D network applications using JavaScript in the browser. In addition, currently, o3d supports browsers such as chrome, Firefox, Safari, and opera, and does not mention support for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
In an interview with Chris DiBona on the infoq Chinese site, he mentioned that Google will open-source Google Wave Based on the BSD Protocol in the future:
The reason for choosing the BSD Protocol is very simple. We hope to give more freedom to those who want to use Google wave code. They can modify the source code and use it freely, applications developed based on wave can also be conveniently used as commercial products. Other protocols, including GPL, do not have such great flexibility.
In addition to introducing the new Google wave product, o3d and new standard HTML 5, Kai-fu Lee also briefly reviewed the progress of other representative Google products over the past year, for example, because thousands of Chinese websites such as Ctrip, Ganji, public comments, and Qunar use Google map APIs, their map API usage has increased eight times over the past year; android, a comprehensive mobile device platform, also covers 12 countries and receives support from 10 mobile carriers, including China Mobile, China Unicom, and Huawei; the opensocial standard has also been supported by five major domestic communities, including the internal network, 51.com, Tianya, juyou and the Internet.
