Google's Summer Programming activity is open to the world today

The third Google summer program was officially unveiled as a "traditional" open-source software programming activity for campus students during the summer, its purpose is to encourage young and talented young programmers to participate in the global open software programming work, not only to create a variety of open source software, but also a meaningful summer job.
Through cooperation with global free software and open-source groups, we will select hundreds of students from the application in the coming months to participate in Google's summer programming activities, the open-source community will provide projects for participants to choose from. Participants need to complete their selected projects within three months with the help of the designated mentor and the corresponding open-source community. At the same time, we will provide scholarships totaling millions of dollars to participants and their tutoring institutions to support their activities. If the project is successfully completed, each student can get $4500 in funding from Google.
Google summer programming is a popular project. During last year's event, 630 students from 90 countries and 102 famous open-source organizations, such as Ubuntu, Eclipse, joomla! Participate in this activity with Dojo. Many of them have performed well. One of the previous participants has become the leader of the Drupal alliance today, and some others have become Google employees by winning interviews through competitions. Under the impetus of this activity, similar projects such as Women's Summer Outreach Program, Summercode Finland, and Season of Usability have sprung up.
To encourage more students to participate in this year's Google summer programming activity, we try to simplify the application process as much as possible, at the same time, we also set the deadline to facilitate students to have more time to communicate with the open-source project community to select the appropriate project. The application period for this activity is from January 1, March 15-24, the programming activity will end from January 1, May 28 to January 1, August 20.
