Small hint: The subnet mask of the home area network generally is,windows 8 will fill in automatically, the subnet mask belongs to the more specialized network communication content, therefore does not introduce. The default gateway can be left blank, Windows 8 will automatically search the network gateway server IP. The preferred DNS server and the alternate DNS server can also be left blank, and Windows 8 will automatically match the DNS server for the gateway. Also note that if the router (gateway) on which the computer is connected has DHCP enabled, the network connection will not work properly if the user specifies the IP address, because the IP address assigned to the computer by the router may be conflicting with the IP address that the user has made.

modifying IP and DNS steps

Click the Advanced button to go to Advanced TCP/IP settings. In IP settings, you can set multiple IP addresses, subnet masks, and default gateways for network devices. Windows 8 will automatically match one to the most appropriate.
