Note: before installing the system, make sure that the network is disconnected: The Debian installer automatically configures DHCP, configures the time server, and searches for software updates online. by default, if you connect to a foreign site, the speed will be slow. It can be updated manually after installation.
Start the VM. the installation interface is shown in.

"Install" is the character interface, and "Graphical install" is the Graphical interface. The character interface is fast, so select the first one.
Select the language of the installation interface in the following interface. Note that the language selected here will also be used as the default language for the system after installation. do not select "Chinese-simplified ", otherwise, the character interface is garbled in the installed system. this is obvious: the default character interface on the computer displays Chinese characters!

We strongly recommend that you select the first item "C-No localization", which is the early Posix C standard and only supports 256 ANSI characters. In my opinion, the regional language is a graphical interface, and the character interface does not need to be idle.
The installation interface in character mode does not support the mouse. press the "Tab" key to switch the Red focus between options and buttons, and press the space key to press the selected button.
Go down and select the location, of course, "Asia" and "China.
The default keyboard is "American English ".
Configure the "Host name" of the network, which is similar to that of Windows. enter the "Domain name" field by yourself.
The IP address, subnet mask, Gateway, and DNS server settings are similar to those in Windows.
Set the user password.

By default, Linux has a user named root with the highest permissions. like Windows Administrator, set the root password here.
Next, the installer prompts you to create a common user and enter the user name and password.

Note: Daily use of Administrator/root is dangerous in both Windows and Linux. Human error is a trivial matter, what's even worse is that all the programs you run have inherited your permissions. it is conceivable how dangerous it is to mistakenly execute malicious programs. Therefore, we should usually use low-privilege users, and Debian enforces this.
Next we went down to the disk partition. I used to use a single system and a single partition. if you want to install multiple systems, please GOOGLE it yourself.
 
After confirming, the basic system will be installed.
When installing the basic system, you may jump out of some software package setting interfaces and select the default one.
After the basic system is installed, the following interface is to select the software to install. Note that if you need a minimum system, remove all the options. what we need is manual installation, no?

The last few steps are done by default. after the installation is complete, it will be automatically restarted.
We can log on to the system using root (not recommended) or the user we just created.
At this time, the basic functions of the system are complete. you can manually install the required software.
Finally, let's take a look at the resource usage (Debian 6 and 5 are similar ):
The memory usage is 21 MB.

The hard disk occupies 413 MB.
