Common sense: Hard Disk Bad Track classification-different bad track points carefully
Because hard disks use magnetic media to store data, some problems will inevitably occur after a long period of use or improper use, that is, what we usually call "Bad channels ", of course, this type of bad track may be a software error, or a hardware fault on the hard disk itself, but it does not mean that the hard disk will be decommissioned after it has a bad track. In fact, the solution is proper, we can make the hard disk "recover to health", or at least extend the hard disk life ".
●Bad Track Classification
In addition to the quality and aging of hard disks, bad sectors also occur due to improper use. Hard Disk Bad sectors can be divided into logical and physical bad sectors based on their nature. In short, logical bad sectors are caused by some software or improper use. Such bad sectors can be repaired using software, the physical bad track is the magnetic medium of the hard disk. For example, if the disk is physically damaged, software cannot be used to fix such faults.
If your hard disk has the following symptoms, you should pay attention to whether the hard disk has encountered bad channels:
(1) When reading a file or running a program, the hard disk reads the disk repeatedly and encounters an error, prompting information such as file damage, or it takes a long time to succeed; sometimes even blue screens may appear;
(2) the hard disk sound suddenly changes from the original normal friction sound to a strange sound;
(3) If Virus Infection is excluded, the system cannot be started normally and prompts such as "Sector not found" or "General error in reading drive C" appear;
(4) When the Format hard disk is used, the system stops at a certain time, and the last error is reported, which cannot be completed;
(5) Scandisk is automatically run to scan disk errors every time the system is started;
(6) When you execute FDISK on the hard disk, it will go into and out again at a certain progress;
(7) The system cannot be guided through the hard disk during startup. After the system is started with a floppy disk, it can be transferred to the hard disk drive letter, but it cannot be accessed. The system cannot be transmitted using the SYS command. This situation is likely due to a problem with the Boot Sector of the hard disk.
Common sense: How to fix bad sectors-detailed analysis of specific problems
Due to the strict requirements on the internal working environment of the hard disk, small dust may cause irreparable damage to the hard disk. Therefore, when a bad track occurs on the hard disk, we cannot disassemble the hard disk for repair, only some tools and software can be used for repair to maximize the loss.
After we confirm that the hard disk has a bad track, we cannot determine whether the bad track is logical or physical damage. We can only follow steps from simple to complex to repair, generally, the fault can be solved through simple software repair, but some physical bad sectors need further repair to ensure the data security and normal use of the hard disk.
Practice: repair the logical bad track-make the hard disk brand new
In general, the reason for the hard disk's logical bad track is that some genuine software will write information to some sectors on the hard disk, and other software will not be able to access this sector. In this case, hard Disk detection tools will also mistakenly think that this sector has generated a bad track. Generally, this situation does not require repair, but fewer and fewer software are using this encryption method.
Another situation is caused by improper use. For example, if the hard disk is accidentally restarted when reading data, a logical bad track may occur, or even a physical bad track may occur. At this time, we can use the Windows built-in disk tool to scan the hard disk and automatically fix the error.
The procedure is as follows (taking Windows XP as an example). Right-click the drive letter on my computer and select "tool> Start Check" in the pop-up drive Properties window ".
Select "automatically repair file system errors" and "scan and recover bad sectors", and then click Start.
The scan time varies depending on the disk capacity and scan options. However, in Windows 98 or later operating systems, the details of each sector cannot be displayed. Therefore, in this case, we 'd better select the disk detection tool Scandisk under DOS. Scandisk detects each slice and marks a bad slice to prevent the operating system from accessing this area. Ensure the stability of system operation and data security.
In general, after the above method is used, the bad sectors on the hard disk still exist after the repair is completed, but the system will not continue to access the system, but as the hard disk continues to be used, we may find that bad hard disk channels may spread, so this method cannot fundamentally solve the problem.
A proper solution is to back up the hard disk data and repartition and format the hard disk. Generally, if the fault on the hard disk is only a logical bad track, the problem can be completely solved. Of course, we recommend that you use the Scandisk in DOS to re-partition and format the hard disk to detect the hard disk again to ensure that the logical bad track of the hard disk is completely repaired.
Practice: repair Physical Bad Sectors-multiple low-level hard drive methods
If the hard disk is still found to have bad sectors after partitioning and formatting according to the above steps, the hard disk is likely to have physical bad sectors. In fact, in this case, we do not have to rush to determine whether the hard disk bad track can be repaired. We can also use another software to perform low-level hard disk partitioning and formatting, some hard drive channels may also be solved in this way.
●Low-level formatting Hard Disk
There are two low-level tools, one is the low-level tool that comes with the motherboard BIOS, and the other is the low-level tool that uses software. The method of using the low-cell tool that comes with the motherboard BIOS will be subject to the limitations of the motherboard, some boards are not equipped with such a program in the BIOS, at present, most of the new models of the motherboard do not have this low-level function, so we recommend that you use software to perform low-level hard disk formatting.
Maxtor low.exe is a low-level tool, which can be used to lower the size of a Maxtor hard disk. In fact, this program can be applied to various brands of IDE hard disks. The operation of the software is quite simple.
After starting, press "Y" to enter the software. You only need to select the hard disk that requires a low level, and then select the hard disk that needs to be selected for the low level.
Generally, the low-case process is long, so you need to wait patiently. In addition, you should be reminded that if there are other hard disks installed on your machine, it is best to unload the hard disk when running the low program to avoid data loss.
Shield Physical Bad Sectors-"dead horses and dead horses"
[/Page] Practice"
If there is still a bad track after the low level, it is almost certain that there is a physical bad track on the hard disk. Physical Bad Sectors are usually caused by Hard Disk Impact or sudden power failure. When the disk is rotated at high speed, the head may impact the disk, resulting in magnetic medium damage, although the operating system will not continue to access this sector even if the bad track is marked by the disk detection software, the physical bad track usually spreads after a period of time, however, the hard disk may still access the sectors around the bad track, resulting in the spread of the bad track. To avoid the spread of bad channels, we 'd better shield them from an unused partition.
We can use the software PQ Magic to shield the bad track from an unused partition. This software has DOS and Windows versions, but we usually find that there is still a bad partition after formatting the hard disk, at this time, Windows is not installed, so we recommend that you use the DOS version of PQ Magic (with a Chinese version ).
Before using PQ Magic for partitioning, we must first find the location of the bad track. We can first use Scandisk to scan the disk surface and understand the approximate location of the bad track of the hard disk before determining the partitioning scheme. For example, if the hard disk has a bad track of about 20% on the drive C, we can use PQ Magic to classify the space between 25% and 30% in front of the drive C as a hidden partition.
The specific operation method is as follows (because the PQ Magic in DOS is inconvenient, we will use the Windows version as an example to demonstrate the operation, which is similar), start PQ Magic, in the graphic interface, right-click the C drive icon and select "adjust capacity/move ".
There will be a tool bar that can be pulled. We only need to move the drive C from the starting position of the hard disk. The following toolbar also shows the free space size after the start position of the hard disk and before the drive C.
For example, if the capacity of disk C is 10 GB, we only need to adjust the free space to about 3 GB. At this time, the capacity of disk C is changed to 7 GB. In this process, it is recommended that you select a relatively large number of blocked space, instead of worrying about the loss of capacity, so as to avoid division of bad channels into the space of drive C. After all, the current hard disk is usually 80 GB to 120 GB, and the loss of several GB capacity in this area can save a hard disk.
After confirming, exit and wait for PQ Magic to move the partition. After restarting, the hard disk bad track is already in the hidden partition, and the operating system will not be able to access it. I used this method to shield a bad track of an 80 GB hard disk, which is still stable.
Note: We recommend that you scan the new partition after blocking the bad track. We recommend that you still use Scandisk to ensure that the bad track has been completely shielded from the hidden partition. Of course, if you think it is a pity that you can create a new partition before the bad track, of course, the premise is not to divide the bad track into new partitions again, but we do not recommend that you do this, in this case, too many partitions and too scattered partitions will greatly affect the disk performance.
Of course, the method of blocking partitions is only applicable when it is more concentrated than the Hard Disk Bad Sectors. If the Hard Disk Bad Sectors are scattered, it will be more troublesome, we recommend that you replace the hard disk to ensure system stability and data security.
●Summary
Through the above steps, we can repair the logical Bad Sectors of the hard disk or shield the bad channels from hidden partitions, so as to ensure the stability of the system operation and the security of data files. After such processing, the hard disk can be restored to youth or to maximize the "Longevity. Is the operation quite simple?
