Ubuntu9.10 is officially released soon, but LinuxIDC has not installed Ubuntu9.10Beta, just now, I saw a friend from the Ubuntu Chinese community saying "Sorry Ubuntu9.10beta and don't need to use an ephemeral disk to install Ubuntu9.10" is about the installation of Ubuntu9.10 hard disk. I 'd like to write it down for your reference, if you are interested, you can test it, but be careful. I am very grateful to you for reading this article.

Ubuntu 9.10 was officially launched soon, but LinuxIDC has not installed Ubuntu 9.10 Beta. We saw it in the Ubuntu Chinese community just now.Miles awayMy friend's "Sorry for Ubuntu 9.10 beta and don't need to install Ubuntu9.10 with a dial hard disk" is about Ubuntu 9.10 hard disk installation. I 'd like to write it down for memo, if you are interested, you can test it, but be careful.

Thank you very much.Miles awayYou have written such a very detailed tutorial, and LinuxIDC will certainly practice it yourself. If you have any questions or do not understand the installation, you can ask questions or participate in the discussion.

But you should be able to refer to this Article "XP + Fedora multi system hard disk installation Ubuntu 9.04 official version of the tutorial [multi figure]" http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2009-04/19648.htm

For a slight modification, note the following:

The article "Ubuntu October 1 beta and Ubuntu 9.10 without a dial-up hard drive" was written in 9.10. It was just an internal forum discussion post, rather than a non-professional tutorial, therefore, some details are ignored, and most non-professional members of the Ubuntu Forum have mastered these basic knowledge.

Refer to the so-called professional website to repost this article without practice, and do not indicate the source. So here we will fix this post.

For a specific section, gurb guides livecd. First, open the terminal and enter sudo umount-l isodevice. Specifically, you should enter:

After you use grub hard drive to boot to the livcd interface, the installer does not recognize hard disk partitions:

To install Ubuntu to a partition, do not check hard disk partitions.

First, you must open the terminal and enter cd/(note that there is a space between cd and/), press enter, and then enter sudo umount-l isodevice press ENTER
At this time, the partition with ISO attached is automatically displayed on the desktop. Click the installer icon on the desktop to install the tool. The installation method is the same as that on the CD.

This girl installed Ubunt 9.10 beta on This post tonight. After several failures, she called LZ to find the LZ release. After the installation was successful, I am in a hurry to apologize for LZ!

The original post is as follows:(The remaining part has been added. You can rest assured that I have just installed it. If I do not know how to set the installation language, I suggest setting the shanghai option in the installation step, connect to the Internet in livecd and enable the Ubuntu installer to automatically download and install the set Language Pack. It takes about 15 minutes for me to download the Language Pack. The Language Pack will also be installed sooner or later. Why not install it automatically when installing the system ):

Another address: http://cdimage.Ubuntu.com/releases/9.10/beta/

Grub Hard Drive boot Ubuntu 9.10 windows xp in the correct menu. lst writing (do not copy 9.04)

LinuxIDC does not know why.

Install menu. lst of Ubuntu 9.10 on Hard Disk
I just succeeded in the experiment and wrote it out to share with you.
Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 6 and later versions
1) download karmic-desktop-amd64.iso
Address: http://cdimage.Ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
There are: karmic-desktop-i386.iso and karmic-desktop-amd64.iso is September 29 version.
Make sure that the version of this website is required. There are too many issues with versions earlier than alpha 6, and the directories of different versions of 9.10 are different. It is impossible to write the same menu. lst statement.
2) use UltraISO and other virtual optical drive tools to extract vmlinuz and initrd. lz from the casper folder of the karmic-desktop-amd64.iso to the root directory of the d disk (my c disk already has 9.04 ),
3) The karmic-desktop-amd64.iso should also be placed in the root directory of the d disk, renamed Ubuntu9.iso, (the name of the karmic-desktop-amd64.iso is too long, there is a-symbol .)
4) The content of menu. lst on drive C is as follows:
Title [4] Start Ubuntu9.10 (enter here)
Root (hd0, 4)
Kernel (hd0, 4)/vmlinuz boot = casper noacpi iso-scan/filename =/Ubuntu9.iso ro quiet splash --
Label check live-install
Initrd (hd0, 4)/initrd. lz
Note: -- label check live-install is the 9.04 boot menu. lst does not have it. I used the original menu. lst cannot guide without this segment. Please add it as appropriate based on your own situation. noacpi should be removed from non-AMD hosts.
5) restart, And the startup speed is much faster than 9.04. For example, go to live cd desktop and enjoy it first. The remaining hard disk installation methods are as follows, refer to other Forum introductions about 9.10 or 8.10.

Note for new users: Do not forget bootini and grldr when installing Ubuntu in windows xp. The partitioning method for hard disk installation of Ubuntu is completely different from that for windows.

For some basic partition knowledge such as (hd0, 4), please search for related posts on the Ubuntu Chinese forum.

This method is successful in amd64.iso. I did not try it in i386.iso.
