Has Kingsoft's word overlord fallen?

Kingsoft is a necessary software for my computer. The history of Kingsoft is almost the same as that of computers.

I used Kingsoft 2005 for many years. Later I remembered that as an IT industry person, piracy is not enough. I have always respected Kingsoft, because I think it is the earliest technical enterprise in China, the office software WPS, the word overlord, quick translation and so on, drug overlord and other security products also occupy three points in the market, and there are also some software such as typing. It should be said that in the field of general software for all end users, Kingsoft is a rich and technical product.

Perhaps the Kingsoft name implies that in the eyes of Qiu bojun, the Internet is a huge Kingsoft. However, it is clear that the Kingsoft cannot be the Kingsoft. For reasons, piracy may be the culprit. The installation volume and retail price of Kingsoft, if everyone uses genuine products, this product may be able to support Kingsoft. However, the reality is that Kingsoft has to be forced to switch to the online gaming field and people's comments about the technology he is proficient in but does not understand the operation. One year ago, Kingsoft was one of my most wanted companies, but now I have learned that many people have switched from Kingsoft to TX. The latter, I really don't like it much, but I also understand that TX may be much better than Kingsoft.

So much nagging, what I want to say is that I am ashamed to use the cracked Kingsoft overlord. So in the first half of the year, I bought a Kingsoft 2010 Oxford Special Edition. The price is not cheap, 158 yuan, and there is a discount for wood. I just had an account with no CD and no instruction.

However, after using it for a while, I found that it was not so easy to use. Although the dictionary is richer, it can be updated frequently and I can query words online. But in some places, it is even worse than 2005. I don't know why, maybe different versions have different functions, but some of them are not functional. I have always wanted to sort out these questions and send them to Kingsoft. On the one hand, it is to protect the rights and interests of my users, and on the other hand, I hope Kingsoft can do better. However, I don't want to send it again later. For Kingsoft, perhaps the benefits brought by Kingsoft is always a negative value. It has spent so many years on it and I should not ask more.

Therefore, I want to include the "problems" that I think are the problems in this column to commemorate and write them for myself.ProgramTime reflection.

1. The interface is too large.

As an auxiliary software, and generally works with software that displays text that occupies a large page. Obviously, the interface of the software should not be too big. Otherwise, it will disturb the normal operation of the user. The minimum size of Kingsoft's main interface is 780*530, and my screen resolution is 1366*768. The minimum size of the dashboard needs to occupy 2/5 of the screen, and the minimum size of its length and width also exceeds half of the screen width. Such a large size makes it impossible for users to enable both the dashboard and text compiler on the screen without blocking each other. Compare the minimum size of the QQ main interface with the minimum size of the word master interface, you can find that QQ is only 1/5 of the size of the word master.

Maybe the designer thinks that I should use the screen word function at ordinary times, instead of the main interface. But in fact, I often need to take words on the screen, and then go to the main interface to learn more.

So does the main interface have to be so big? Search for any words:

As you can see, in the query result display box, the right half is empty, and most words are similar. Looking at the blank space of this film, you cannot narrow down the interface. Sometimes it is very bad.

Designers may also think that when using sentence library, translation, materials and other functions, a smaller interface will lead to poor display. I admit this. However, for these three functions, I have used less than 1% of the dictionary functions, and I think most of them should be similar to me. If the designer really thinks so, this kind of trade-offs will not be left alone. In addition, there is also a general design principle: can be recommended, but do not force.

2. The displayed interface cannot be minimized by clicking the taskbar icon and the notification bar icon.

This is something I can't understand. I can open the main interface by clicking the notification bar icon, but I can't click it to close the main interface, as can I click the taskbar icon. To close the main interface, you can only move the mouse to the upper-right corner of the main interface and click the close button. This "feature" brings us pain, and I believe many people share the same feeling. I have no idea why I did this. The designer may also say "We provide shortcut keys for hiding the interface", but I use the shortcut keys to open the main interface and to operate background programs, but I do not use the shortcut keys to close the main interface. In addition, the default shortcut key is hard to be pressed by one hand.

3. Degradation: The selected region cannot be identified.

When you use the word function on the screen, the dashboard analyzes the word or phrase range at the mouse position. I remember that in analyticdb 2005, if the automatic analysis scope of the word master is incorrect, you can select it with your mouse, and then the word master checks the selected area at the mouse position. However, this function does not seem to be available now. Therefore, to search for words in a combination or variant, I have to open the main interface and then manually enter words to search for them. This is one of the reasons why I need to open the main interface more frequently.

4. Degradation: The word box is not transparent.

In analyticdb 2005, the transparency and color of the word box can be set, but not now.

5. Each time the software is started, two program exceptions are reported. The program name involved is sendstatistic.exe. I am most disgusted with the uncertain pop-up error dialog box and various box programs that must be closed with one click !!!

 

For daily software, non-professional software, and industrial software, users have high requirements on the user experience of the software, because users may be very familiar with computers, and the cost of replacing the software is also very low. To retain users, the user experience is crucial.

As a product with a history of nearly ten years, I think these problems still occur and should not happen. Even if the improvement focuses on the rich dictionary content and online query functions, you should not ignore the effect of the software.

However, if Kingsoft is still unable to make profits, there is no such thing to blame. No one will take the time to sell at a loss. If the situation does not change, Kingsoft may disappear into our field of vision one day.
