HBase installation Configuration

First you need to download HBase latest and stable version: http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/hadoop/hbase

Decompress the package and move the extracted file to a directory such as/home/user/hbase.

$ Cd/home/user/hbase
Enter this directory

$ Vi conf/hbase-env.sh
Export JAVA_HOME =/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.03

Edit the conf/hbase-env.sh file and modify the JDK path

$ Vi conf/regionservers
Enter the names of all your HBase servers

$ Bin/start-hbase.sh
Start hbase

After startup, you can view many logs files in the logs/directory.

You can also enter the following command to enter the HQL command mode.
$ Bin/hbase shell

$ Bin/stop-hbase.sh
Disable HBase Service
