Sharing principle
　　
In view of the current mainstream Ethernet interfaces, the external ADSL Modem has built-in routers and routing functions, and also has a large-capacity ROM chip (including the PPP dialing program ). With this built-in dialing program, the Modem can automatically enter the dialing program after power-on. You only need to write the user name and dial-up password allocated by the ISP to the built-in ROM chip of ADSL and have it save the user name and password. The ADSL Modem can automatically enter the dial-up. With the built-in routing function, you can easily exchange data packets between the Internet and the LAN, allowing multiple machines to share the Internet.
　　
Step 1: implement automatic dialing of ADSL Modem
　　
First, find the internal IP address of your ADSL Modem, such as 10.0.0.2 (which is described in your ADSL Manual), and set the NIC connected to the Modem as the IP address of the same network segment, such as 10.0.0.3, set the gateway address to 10.0.0.2. Enter "http: // 10.0.0.2" in the address bar of the browser to go to the modem settings page. A dialog box is displayed, prompting you to enter the logon username and password (generally, the username is admin, the password is 123456. For details, refer to the Manual ). If the password is incorrect, it indicates that someone has modified the password in advance. But it doesn't matter. There is usually a "Reset" Reset switch on the Modem. Click this switch to restore the information to the factory status.
　　
The pop-up window consists of two parts: the main column on the left and the specific settings for each column on the right. Click "LAN" on the left of the window, read the IP Address and Subnet Mask (Subnet Mask), and write down the two data, which is the gateway and Mask of the LAN. Set the DHCP service to "System Allocated (automatically assigned by the System )". In addition, the "User Mode" item must be set to "Multi User". Otherwise, broadband sharing will fail. After setting, click "Submit" to Submit data.
　　
Click "WAN" on the left of the window to go to the "WAN Configuration" Setting dialog box. This is the most critical step in the entire operation. Here, we need to change the PPP transmission mode "ENCAPSULATION" to "PPPoE LLC", and write the Username and Password of the virtual dialing given by the ISP, click "Submit" to Submit the settings.
　　
Click "DNS" on the left of the window to set the domain name resolution server. My NS-201LAN is able to automatically get the ISP's DNS, so no need to set up. If the Modem cannot be obtained automatically, you can click the "system log" option in the left window to view this information, or directly ask your ISP.
　　
Click Save Settings on the left of the window to enter the Save Configuration window. Click "Submit" to Submit the above information (remember to Submit and save each step above, and set that no power is available at this time), write the above settings to the modem ROM-restart the modem. Turn on the ADSL power source and computer in sequence. Try again. The computer is connected to the Internet automatically without dialing!

Step 2: connect and set the LAN
　　
The steps for setting up a LAN are not described here. After the local area network is connected, first disable the ADSL Modem and then connect the ADSL output to the HUB. Remember that the connection to the HUB is not an input port, but a port parallel to any computer, the computer network cables are connected to the port with the modem parallel, and then the TCP/IP attribute is changed to automatically obtain the IP address in the network neighbor attribute. Turn on the power of the ADSL modem and start the system. The entire LAN can access the Internet.
　　
According to the above sharing settings, we only need to keep the power of the ADSL Modem and Hub on, and anyone who wants to start the Internet can go on. Is this solution economical and practical?
