Because we are software developers and management personnel, software is often easier to see. This is like seeing someone stir up with flour and water in the market and steam them out for sale. We can easily think of it: Oh, this is a steamed bread.

At this time, we thought we could do it ourselves, and we could do more to sell it to others while meeting our own needs. It sounds quite reasonable. There is a premise assumption that the technical threshold for making steamed buns is limited, so there is no difference in quality compared with others.

Many years ago, I wrote an email client for sending and receiving and managing emails. My philosophy at that time was also very simple, that is, I will develop software, and I will certainly be able to develop software that is no worse than others, and even more likely I will sell it. I have been using this software for many years, but I still encountered some problems:

1. Modify bugs. Several problems will be found every year;

2. functions are upgraded. New functions need to be added as soon as they are used;

3. It is difficult to promote the product.

The last one may be the most fatal. My initial understanding was that, since all users use it, why can't I use it? But when I promote it, people often explain it as follows:Why do I have to use yours?

 

With more development experience, it is easy to understand that the software actually provides services. It is explained by the steamed bread of the market that it provides a convenient and fast way of food service. after a busy day, I have to spend some time cooking.

Or, the software provides a function or service that we want but cannot or is difficult to accomplish by ourselves. For example, it is convenient for programmers to use IDE development tools.

So for a while, I thought about what users wanted and what they could provide. In fact, the requirements of users are varied, and it is difficult to unify the focus. In one sentence:The software must please customers!Whether it is functional requirements, performance requirements, or sensory requirements, as long as the customer is satisfied, it is our goal.

 

A good product must have a deep understanding of the logic behind user requirements under the market conditions that are so selective. Yes, but also insist.Select your understanding and stick to your goals.
