How do I adjust line spacing in Word 2010?

In Microsoft Word 2010, the default spacing for most Quick Style sets is: 1.15 between rows, and a blank line between paragraphs. The default spacing in Office Word 2003 documents is: 1.0 between lines, no blank lines between paragraphs.

Change row spacing

The easiest way to change the line spacing for an entire document is to apply a quick Style set that uses the spacing you want. If you want to change the line spacing for portions of a document, you can select the paragraphs and change their line spacing settings.

Change line spacing throughout a document using a style set

On the Start tab, in the Styles group, click Change Style.

Point to Style set, and then point to a variety of different style sets. When using live preview, notice how line spacing changes from one style set to the next.

For example, a traditional style set and a Word 2003 style set use single spacing. The manuscript style set uses double spacing.

When you see the desired line spacing, click the name of the appropriate style set.

Change the line spacing for a portion of a document

1, select the paragraph whose line spacing you want to change.

2, on the Start tab, in the Paragraph group, click Line Spacing.

3. Perform one of the following actions:

Click the number that corresponds to the line spacing you want.

For example, click 1.0 to indicate that line spacing is one times more than the line spacing used in earlier versions of Word. Click ' 2.0 ' to indicate that the line spacing in the selected paragraph is double spacing. Click 1.15 to indicate that the line spacing is one times the line spacing used in Word 2007.

Multiple spacing This option sets the line spacing that can be represented by a number greater than 1. For example, setting the line spacing to 1.15 increases the spacing by 15%, and setting the line spacing to 3 increases the spacing by 300% (three times times leading).

Note If a row contains large text characters, graphics, or formulas, Word increases the spacing of the line. To evenly distribute the lines in a paragraph, use fixed spacing and specify large enough spacing to fit the largest character or graphic in the row. Increase the amount of spacing if the content appears incomplete.
