How do I configure multiple broadband routers in an enterprise lan?

Users who have been familiar with broadband routers generally know that the ports on the broadband routers are divided into WAN ports and LAN ports. A Broadband Router has the following features during work: data streams from the LAN to the WAN are not restricted by default through the router, and data streams from the WAN to the LAN are not allowed by default. Note: The wireless access part of the Wireless Broadband Router belongs to the LAN range. That is to say, packets sent from the computer in the LAN are sent to the LAN port of the router by default, the router can be sent from the WAN port smoothly through the router, but after the Active packets from the WAN end enter the WAN port, the router will not let those packets pass by default.

This document mainly describes how to configure parameters to achieve our goal when there are multiple broadband routers in the LAN?

Step 1: assume that you have an ADSL Broadband line, through the TP-Link TL-R460 Broadband Router to achieve four computers to share the Internet, the network connection diagram is as follows:

Broadband <&> adsl modem <&> WAN port) R460LAN port) <&> Computer

Step 2: for some reason, you have purchased a TL-WR541G Wireless Broadband Router, you want the network to provide wireless access function, this time must be from the R460 LAN port leads to a network cable to connect WR541G, what should I do if I connect to the WAN port of WR541G? Or is the LAN port connecting WR541G? There are two types of network connection:

R460LAN port) <&> WAN port) WR541G wireless) <&> Computer B

R460LAN port) <&> LAN port) WR541G wireless) <&> Computer B

Both of the above links are available. Computer B can access the Internet through R460 after parameter configuration.

Next we will configure WR541G and computer B to connect to WR541G to enable wireless Internet access for computer B. Assume that the R460 LAN port uses the default IP address 192.168.1.1.

1) R460LAN port) <&> WAN port) WR541G wireless) <&> Computer B

In this connection mode, you need to configure the following parameters for the WAN port of WR541:

IP address 192.168.1.X (X ranges from 2 to 254)

Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

Why is the above parameter? For WR541G, The R460 LAN port IP address is its default gateway address!

However, before configuring the WAN port, you need to change the IP address of the WR541G LAN port, because the default IP address of the wr541.1 LAN port is 192.168.1.1 by default to avoid conflict. The change process is as follows:

First, configure the IP address of the computer to 192.168.1.X in the range of 2 & 254), and enter the WR541G management interface through http: // 192.168.1.1, in "Network Parameters"-"LAN port settings", change the IP address of the LAN port to 172.16.1.1, and save the prompt to restart.

Next, change the IP address of the computer to 172.16.1.X to 2 & 254 in the natural number range, as shown in:

Access the WR541G management interface through http: // 172.16.1.1 again, and you can configure the WAN port. What is the DNS server address in the above image? Check the TL-R460 "running" or ask your broadband service provider for it.

2) R460LAN port) <&> LAN port) WR541G wireless) <&> Computer B

This connection method does not use the WR541G WAN port, so you do not need to configure the WAN port. You only need to configure the following parts:

First, you must disable the DHCP server function of WR541G and select "Disable ).

Next, change the IP address of the WR541G LAN port to 192.168.1.254 as long as it does not conflict with other used IP addresses.

Next, how do I configure the TCP/IP attribute parameters of a computer that connects to WR541G via wireless/Wired connection? After configuring the preceding two steps, WR541G is equivalent to a "wireless switch". Therefore, the TCP/IP attributes of the computer connected to WR541G must be consistent with those of R460! This is equivalent to connecting these computers under R460! As shown in the figure, the DDNS parameter still looks at the TL-R460 "running status" or asks for it from your broadband service provider.
