How do I draw a diagram using Visio?

Source: Internet

Microsoft Visio2007 provides us with a lot of templates and countless shapes, some of which seem simpler, but others are relatively complex and not easy to get from. This article is mainly about how to create a basic block diagram with Visio2007 so you can get started quickly, by explaining some basic tips on how to open a template, put shapes into a drawing, and connect those shapes.

The following steps are specific:

Start Visio2007.

When Visio starts, multiple windows appear. Now, you only need to use a window called template category.

In the list of categories in the Template Categories window, click the General category.

All templates in the general category will appear in the center window.

Double-click the template named Basic block diagram.

When the basic Diagram template is open, a blank drawing page takes up most of the space. Because aligning shapes is important when you create a chart, gridlines appear on the page when the page appears.

Tip To turn off gridlines, on the View menu, click Grid to clear the check box.

In addition to the drawing page, the Shapes window is displayed with three groups of shapes: background, borders, and titles, basic shapes

Clicking each heading in these headings opens a stencil full of shapes. Now, we only use the Basic Shapes stencil.

Click any shape on the Basic Shapes stencil, hold down the mouse button, and drag the shape onto the drawing page.

When you release the mouse button, the shape is surrounded by a green dotted line with a green square called a selection handle, and sometimes a yellow diamond, called a control handle. To learn how to use control handles, selection handles, and other important shape features, see the Article Shape basics.

Repeat step 4th to add another shape to the drawing page.

To connect shapes together by using the Automatic connection feature:

Pause the pointer over the shape you want to connect from.

Place the pointer over the blue-light triangle closest to the shape you want to connect to.

The triangle turns dark blue and there will be a red box around the shape you want to connect to.

Note If the red border does not show up around the shape you want to connect to, it may be because the shape is too far away. Move the shape closer and try again, or connect the shape using the Connector tool. For more information, see the article Add and glue connectors using the Connector tool.

Click the Blue triangle. A connector is added and glued to two shapes. Two shapes remain connected, even if you drag each shape to a new location on the page.

Repeat steps 4th through 6th to continue adding and connecting shapes to complete the basic diagram.
