Word documents created using Word2013 will be saved as Word2013 documents in docx format, and Word2003 can not directly open Word2013-created docx documents without installing file-format compatibility packs. If Word2013 users need to exchange files frequently with Word2003 users, Word2013 users can set their default save format to a doc file that Word2003 users can open.
The steps for setting the default save format to doc files in Word2013 are described below:
Step 1th, open the Word2013 document window, and click the file → options button, as shown in Figure 2013080408.

Step 2nd, in the Open Word Options dialog box, switch to the Save tab, in the Save document area, click the "Save file as this format" drop-down triangle button and select the word97-2003 document (*.doc) option in the Open Drop-down menu, and click OK. As shown in Figure 2013080409.

Word home Hint: change Word2013 default saved file format, and can not change the use of the right-click menu to create a new Word document format, the new Word document using the right-click menu is still docx format. You can save the doc file by default only when you open the Word2013 document window and then save it.
