When you insert a header in Word2003, a horizontal line and body text are automatically split at the header. Users can remove the word header if they do not need it.
1. Set "borders and shading" to remove word headers
In the Borders and Shading dialog box, you can remove the word header, as described in the following steps:
Step 1th, open the Word2003 document window, click the view → header and Footer menu command in the menu bar, and make the header edit.
Step 2nd, click the format → borders and Shading menu command on the menu bar to open the Borders and Shading dialog box. Select the paragraph option in the Apply to Drop-down menu on the Borders tab. Then click the None option in the Settings area and click OK to remove the word header line, as shown in Figure 2008080301.

2. Set the header style to remove the word header horizontal
By setting the word header style, users can modify the default settings for Word headers so that they do not have horizontal lines by default, as described in the following steps:
Step 1th, open the Word2003 document window, click the format → style and Format menu command on the menu bar, and open the Styles and formatting task creation. In the list of formats, click the Drop-down triangle to the right of the header option, and select the Modify option, as shown in Figure 2008080302.

Step 2nd, open the Modify Style dialog box, and click the format → border button, as shown in Figure 2008080303.

Step 3rd, in the open Borders and Shading dialog box, click the None option in the Settings area and click OK, as shown in Figure 2008080304.

Step 4th, return to the Modify Style dialog box, select the Add to template check box, and click OK, as shown in Figure 2008080305.
