IP Address
Many people think that a machine can have only one IP address, which is not actually the case. Set up multiple IP addresses on a single host so that you can set up a site for each department instead of configuring the server separately. Multiple Web sites can be controlled with multiple IP addresses. This article discusses in detail how to set up multiple IP addresses on a single host.
In general, it is assumed that a machine can have only one IP address, which is not the case in essence. We can set up multiple IP addresses on a single host so that you can set up a site for each department instead of configuring the server separately. Let's take Windows2000 server as an example to illustrate. Multiple Web sites can be controlled with multiple IP addresses. In Windows200 server, if you want to use multiple IP addresses, you must register the host name with all of the corresponding IP addresses in the name recognition system (usually DNS). As long as the client enters the text form name in the browser, you can connect to your Web site.
In Windows2000server if you set up multiple sites in this way, you must register the name of the text form with InterNIC. The specific steps are described below. (Before this we have set up an IP address: 192.168.0.100, subnet mask is: 255.255.255.0, and DNS, etc. has been configured well).
First, enter "My Computer/Control Panel/Network and dial-up connection/local Area Connection" in Windows2000server, select the Local Area connection, right-click its properties, click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) option and press the button, this is a set of IP address: ( As shown in Figure one)
IP address: 192.168.0.100 subnet mask: 255.255.255 first DNS server: 192.168.0.100image002.jpg

Second, set up another IP address: In the above screen, select the middle and upper, as shown in Figure 1 Click Add and Write IP address: 192.168.0.99 subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, then add a button in the dot, so this machine has two IP address and subnet mask. Of course, depending on your needs, you can set up a few more. (as shown in Figure II): Image003.jpg

Iii. registering with the DNS server: Enter/start/program/admin tools/dns option, open the DNS management tool. Create a new host in the forward lookup zone. Press the right key/new host, host name: Fgj6,ip address: 192.168.0.99. (You can then add an alias to the host, which can be omitted), so that it is registered in DNS. (as shown in Figure III):

Add a new site for the newly added IP address: Access/procedures/management Tools/internet Service management use the mouse to point to the default Web site, press the right button, select New site, named the development department, with the Mouse Point Development Department, press the right button, select Properties.
Write in the We site: IP address: 192.168.0.99 and port number 80. (That is, the newly established IP address), as required, in the publishing directory set to: C:\InetPub\wwwroot\, and so on. This allows you to use a different IP address on the same machine.
In the home directory: Select the directory on this computer, local path: D:\Inetpub\wwwroot, of course, depending on the actual, you can also set other paths. (as shown in Figure four):

The final Test. Can test in this server first, enter in IE: 192.168.0.100 is you a homepage; re-enter: 192.168.0.99 is also a homepage. After testing, and then to the LAN test. So you can see that with a different IP address, get a different page. (Of course the LAN is connected)
