How to set up Windows Server 2012 Firewall Management
This article details how to set up Windows Server 2012 Firewall management and create custom inbound and outbound rules to perform the most common tasks for Windows Firewall.
Manage Firewall Settings
In Windows Advanced Security firewall, run on Windows Server 2012 and open a host-based firewall by default. The firewall settings in Windows Server 2012 are managed from the Windows Firewall MMC (Microsoft Management Console). To view and set the firewall settings, do the following:
1. Open Server Manager from taskbar.
2. On the right side of the top navigation bar, click Tools and select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
3. Start by selecting the Windows Firewall properties to view the current configuration settings from the MMC landing page. This will allow access to modify settings for every three firewall profiles, domains, private and public, as well as IPSec settings.

Custom rules can control the best levels of inbound and outbound traffic in your Windows Server 2012.
1. If you have not yet done so, by opening the load Windows Firewall MMC Server Manager from the taskbar, click on the Tools menu and select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.

9. Select the profile that you want to use for the custom rule, domain, public, or private association, and then click Next.
10. For the name and optional description of your firewall rule, click Finish.
11. When the rule is created, it is automatically enabled.
Firewall rules can be found on the corresponding Rules tab depending on the type created, either inbound or outbound. To disable or remove rules found in an MMC rule, right-click it and select Disable rule or delete.
