How does Excel make milestones charts?

In the publicity, often see a number of historical events, the growth process of the map, very intuitive, good-looking (as shown in the following picture). So how do you do it? Here we introduce a quick way to make an event record diagram with an Excel table.

1, first, make the basic table (shown in the following figure). When the table is complete, the menu bar-insert-selects the xy (scatter) chart.

2. Configure the data source for the scatter chart.

1 Select scatter plot, right mouse button Select "Select Data";

2 in the dialog box that pops up, click Add, X-axis series values select the Date column data, the Y-axis series value selects the Ordinal column data, click Add again, the X-axis series value selects the Date column data, and the Y-axis series value selects the secondary column data (shown in figure II below).

3 to delete the resulting chart: gridlines, charts, and graphs.

3, adjust the axis for scatter chart.

1 Select the X axis, double-click to format axis, position the axis minimum value of 41796 (the time of the first event), the maximum value 42191, and set label position to none.

2 Select the Y axis, adjust the minimum value from the default of 0 to-3, and delete the data label.

4. Set the new data series 2 format for scatter charts.

1 Select Series 2 (data on X axis), menu bar Click Add Element--"data label"--Other data label options;

2 Pop-up dialog box to change the "tag includes" Y value to "x value"; Label position is bottom, text orientation is vertical in text layout, and data marker type is selected none.

5. Set the new data series 1 format for scatter charts.

1 Select Series 1, add "error Bar"--select "Other error Bars", set the vertical error bar to "negative deviation", the end style is no, the error amount is 100%;

2 Add data label for Series 1, the data label is "left";

3 Click the data tag just added, complete the formula, such as selecting the First Data label "1", enter "=" in the formula bar and click C2 Cell.

6, finally, beautify the chart:

Remove the line, adjust the data label text size, color, location, according to your needs, add a little picture or logo and so on.
