How does the Windows system add an Ubuntu boot entry?
1, download grub4dos software package, extract files Grldr and grldr.mbr to C packing directory
2, some versions of Windows may have been useful to other versions of the GRLDR (which contains BIOS and MBR information), because it and grub4dos from the different, so it can not be used directly, to do some processing: first renamed the Grldr Gdldr, Then use Winhex to edit grldr.mbr, replacing the GRLDR as Gdldr. If no other version of GRLDR is used in the original system, you can skip this step.
3, (1) WIN7 system:
Add a startup item with Bcdedit. Enter the WIN7 system, open the command-line prompt with administrator privileges, and then execute the following command:
bcdedit/create/d "Grub Menu"/application bootsector (note: Create a real-mode startup item called "Grub menu")
Copy the generated {ID} and replace the ID in the following command with this ID
Bcdedit/set {ID} device Partition=c: (note: Set the partition where the boot sector file resides, grldr.mbr the partition)
Bcdedit/set {ID} path GRLDR.MBR (Note: Specifies the path and filename of the boot sector file)
Bcdedit/displayorder {ID}/addlast (Note: Add menu item to end of this grub menu)
(2) WIN XP System:
Modify Boot.ini, add a row at the end
C:grldr= "Ubuntukylin 14.04"
4, modify Menu.lst, add load Ubuntu menu. The menu that you added might look like the following:
Title Ubuntukylin 14.04
Find--set-root--ignore-floppies--ignore-cd/grub/i386-pc/core.img
Kernel/grub/i386-pc/core.img
Boot
5, after reboot can see the Ubuntu menu
