Add/Remove Word document restrictions editing method

Open the document for which you want to set restrictions on editing, and select the Restrict editing feature under review

In the Restricted Formatting and Editing dialog box that pops up, set restrictions on what you edit. Where formatting restriction editing is a limitation of formatting operations in a document, when selected, enables formatting restrictions to be edited, and the formatting of the specific restrictions is set by the Settings button below. "Only allow this type of editing in a document" is to set up the actions that you can make to the document. In the case of annotations, only the related actions that are allowed to be annotated in the document are allowed to be read only, and so on, if no changes are allowed (read-only). You can choose which actions are allowed through the Drop-down list below. In addition, you can set up users who are allowed to operate, and so on.

When the settings are complete, click "Yes, enable mandatory protection"

In the "Enable Mandatory protection" dialog box that pops up, you can choose the protection method, the general use of "password" protection, if you do not set a password, the document is very low protection, it is easy to unprotect, so it is best to set the password. Set the method to set the password at the new password, confirm new password. Click OK. "User authentication" is less used and is not discussed here

When you edit the document, you find that the document does not add or remove characters, and that a similar font appears in the lower-left corner of the document that is not allowed to be modified because the selection is locked, which indicates successful document protection

To remove document restrictions, select the Limit edits option under review again, and the Restrict Edit and Format dialog box appears to the right of the document

Click on the "Stop Protection" button to open the Unprotect Document dialog box

In the Cancel Document Protection dialog box that opens, enter the password you set when you protect the document, and click OK. You can now see that the document has revoked the protection restrictions
