How OpenStack mirroring works in a VMware environment

1. Cloud image file:

Http://sahara-files.mirantis.com/sahara-juno-spark-1.0.0-ubuntu-14.04.qcow2 (image file with Sahara-spark software installed)

From this website you can get the Ubuntu cloud image file, which is deployed on OpenStack with the suffix named Qcow2.

2. Turn the qcow2 image file into VMDK (VMware) format.

Convert using the Qmenu-img tool

Conversion command: qemu-img convert–o vmdk xxx.qcow2 xxx.vmdk

3. Loading the VMDK into VMware Workstation

After launch, Ubuntu account cannot be logged in.

The reason is that the image is a cloud image, and if started in OpenStack, you can set the startup parameters to that image.

4. Load the cloud image file (VMDK) in VMware

• Make a virtual machine, load the converted Vmdk
• Find an Ubuntu system
• Make Meta-data file, the file content is as follows:

        local-hostname: localhost

• 制作user-data文件，文件内容如下：

      #cloud-config

      password: ubuntu

• 执行genisoimage批处理命令，输出iso文件

       genisoimage -output seed.iso -volid cidata -joliet -rock user-data meta-data

• 将改seed.iso文件挂接到vmware的光驱中。

5.启动虚拟机

提示输入用户，输入ubuntu。

提示修改密码，修改成自己的密码即可。

现在可以控制登陆云镜像文件了。
