How Windows 8 can pin arbitrary files to the start screen

By default, Windows 8 can only fix files of a particular file type to the start screen, so what do we do if we want to pin any file to the start screen?

Step 1:

Open Notepad, paste the contents in, Save as a. reg type of file, and run it.

Step 2:

The warning window may pop up and we'll click "Yes".

Items and values are successfully added to the registry, we click OK.

Step 3:

Locate any file, right-click, and choose to fix to the start screen.

Then we saw the file I just fixed on the "Start" screen, and then we had the option to click and open it.

So how do we remove the fix to the Start screen feature? At this point we open Notepad, paste the following contents, save as a. reg type of file and execute it.
