Windows 2008 is not allowed to ping by default, so how do I turn on allow pings?
This article describes the methods that Windows Server 2008 cannot ping change to allow:
First, open the Control Panel--Find management tools--Windows firewall with Advanced security.
Second, navigate to inbound rules in the left navigation form, and then find the "public" file and print Sharing (Echo request –icmpv4-in) rule in the inbound rule, set to allow, such as:

Note: We can choose in what network environment (domain, private, or public) to allow the rule, if the network uses IPV6, and also to allow icmpv6-in rules.
In addition, we can also use the command line to perform an inbound Ping rule to enable or disable the command line as follows:
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 disable
