How Linux virtual machines running on VMware use NAT mode to connect to external networks of physical machines

In VMware Workstation, there are 3 virtual switches by default, VMNET0 (using bridged networks), VMNET1 (Host network only), and VMnet8 (NAT network).

First of all, why use NAT mode, if your physical machine's Internet environment is constantly changing, then every time you change the physical machine IP, gateway or something, you have to change the virtual machine's corresponding IP, gateway.

But you're too lazy. Every time you change the Internet environment of a physical machine, you should change the network configuration of the virtual machine, then NAT mode is a good choice. The exact configuration steps are also simple:

1, select the custom specific virtual network in the network configuration of the virtual machine, then choose VMnet8;

2, locate the VMNET8 adapter in the network connection of the physical machine, set to obtain the IP automatically;

3, in the physical machine's network connection to find the physical machine adapter, right click on the properties, select the Sharing tab, all tick, and in the first drop-down box select VMNET8 (If this step is determined after sharing failed, it may be your physical machine Firewall service is not turned on, Find the service enabled in the service);

4, then look at the IP configuration of the VMNET8 adapter, will be found to become 192.168.137.1, change it to manual mode, and then fill in the DNS, and the physical machine with the DNS consistency;

5, in the network configuration of the virtual machine to edit the connection, the current connected IP is set to any one of 192.168.137.X/20, the gateway is set to 192.168.137.1,dns settings and physical machine to maintain consistency;

6, in the terminal ping the following physical machine IP, if you can ping, you can connect the extranet.
