How much do you know about cabling?

Do not think that wiring is a simple pressure on the crystal head, so it is as simple as connecting a cable to a computer! Integrated Wiring is also a specialized technology. It is the foundation of computer network engineering! With the popularization of networks, this technology will be widely used! We should also have a general understanding of this type of users.

What is integrated wiring and what functions?

For example, in a modern building, in addition to telephones, air conditioners, firefighting, and power lines, computer network lines are indispensable! The object is mainly the transmission network in the building to facilitate the connection of voice and data communication, exchange equipment and other information management systems, and make these devices communicate with the outside world over the network.

Integrated Wiring consists of many components, including transmission media, line management hardware, connectors, adapters, transmission electronic lines, and so on. It can be used to construct various subsystems, it is called Integrated Wiring.

Integrated Wiring Demand Analysis

Future demand analysis and current network environment planning should be placed in the same important position. A network with too many defects may cause the entire system to crash, and later maintenance and upgrade will also be very complicated! Therefore, we should consider the following issues during the planning phase:

1. Number of users in the network and possible growth scope in the future.

2. Adaptability to current and future computer software and hardware.

3. Pay attention to the security of server data.

4. Arrange the Space Range for cabling.

5. The cabling budget is provided.

The so-called "topological structure" of the network refers to the geometric connection shape of the network. It is called the "topological diagram" of the network as a graph. Currently, bus, Star, and ring are commonly used.

1. Bus: connect all computers to a coaxial cable. It is suitable for use in the network environment with few terminal computers, the hardware connection to use is BNC interface Nic, BNC-T connector, Terminator and coaxial fine cable. The biggest disadvantage is that if a piece of cable goes wrong, other computers cannot be connected, which will paralyze the entire network!

2. Star: All terminals are connected through a central device using twisted pair wires. This central device can be a collection line HUB or a switch. This structure is the most widely used method today, because the network environment has a central point, so when a computer or a line problem occurs, it does not affect other computers, and can increase or decrease terminal devices at any time, this greatly improves network adaptability!

3. Ring Type: it can also be called a ring plate network. The blue giant IBM first introduced this structure. The theoretical transmission rate is up to 16 Mbit/s, and its biggest feature is that only one terminal can transmit and receive data at a certain time in the network environment.

Communication cable selection

As mentioned in the previous section, the main line types are twisted pair wires and coaxial cables. Before determining the type used, it is also an important step to check the available space of the line. In addition, it is equally important to consider the line barrier and reflection material. There is also the length problem. Generally, the ideal transmission distance of twisted pair wires is within 100, while the coaxial cable can reach more than 1 kilometer.

In today's network environments, longer-distance transmission is often required over 100 meters. Therefore, fiber-optic communication is also a good choice. It has the characteristics of small size, fast speed, good confidentiality and durability, however, the cost is naturally higher than the other two categories. For network environments restricted by space restrictions and installation time restrictions, radio waves can be used instead of physical lines to transmit and receive information.

Glossary

1. attenuation: it refers to the process of weakening communication signals due to increasing transmission distance or the distance received by radio waves.

2. bandwidth: the available frequency range used for transmitting information on a communication channel, which is a standard for evaluating the channel transmission capability. The Unit is Hz and bit/s.

3. 10 Base-T: Use unshielded twisted pair wires (UTP), and a local network with a transmission speed of 10 Mbps in line with the 802.3 standard.

4. 100Base-TX: this is a fast Ethernet network that uses a 2-wire pair of 100 Mbit/s for Category 5 cables.

5. asynchronous data transmission ATM): A new data transmission and group exchange technology. It mainly uses cells for data transmission and supports multimedia communication. The data exchange rate is high and the transmission rate can reach 155Mbps-2.4Gbps.
