How PHP regular expressions match images

How does PHP regular expression match the image preg_match ('# "] +? ([^ "/] + ?) "[^>] +> # Is ','', $ matches );
Echo $ matches [0];

The image is matched here, but how do I match the alt = "" image in the image?
