How PowerPoint presentations are printed as handouts

As a speaker, print your PowerPoint presentation as a handout to the audience before you start the presentation, and the audience can either refer to the presentation or refer to the document in the future. Also, if you print your presentation in handouts, you can leave a blank line next to each slide for the audience to note. Below, let's take PowerPoint2007 as an example of how to print a presentation as a handout.

1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint where you want to print your handouts.

2. Click the Microsoft Office button, click the arrow next to print, and then click Print Preview (Figure 1).

3. In the Page Setup group, click the arrow under Print content, and then select the handout layout options you want from the list. In this case, select the handout (3 slides per page) format (see Figure 2). Because only handouts in that format provide a comment line for the audience, other formats do not provide a comment line.

4. To specify the page orientation, click the arrow under Paper direction, and then click Landscape or Portrait. If you want to print a color handout, select a color printer, and in the Print group, click Options, point to Color/grayscale, and then click Color.

5. After all the options are set, in the Print group, click Print, and then in the Print dialog box that pops up, print the handout directly by clicking OK.

By printing a PowerPoint presentation as a handout, you can change the default settings for each slide that takes up a sheet of paper when you print it, not only saving paper, making it easier for viewers, but also displaying your unusual skills in PowerPoint!
