English learning is nothing more than "listening, speaking, and reading and writing". In general English learning, the order of "listening, speaking, and reading and writing" makes sense. The greatest use of a language is for communication. However, for programmers, I think reading should be the most important. Good reading ability will make it very convenient for us to read materials, use some English software, and subscribe to blogs of foreign Daniel. I personally divide English learning into three steps: words, reading, and listening. Let's talk about them separately.

Word

The basis for learning English words. When I first went to school, I always kept the words in the dictionary of Class 4, Class 6 and so on. It was very time-consuming and not targeted. For working friends, the time should not be as long as they are studying. In their spare time, they should pay attention to new technologies. Some may also engage in private activities, when the time is busy, you may want to spend some time with your wife, so it is unlikely that you will take a fixed time every day to remember words. My approach is to take advantage of every day's "small time ", this "small time" refers to the bus or subway on which you go to work (you can remember words when you have a seat on the bus and read a book without seat). It may take a long time on the way to and from work, which is very precious, it cannot be wasted. There will be many "small time" like this every day, which varies from person to person. As for the source of words, I am reading English documents, blogs, and so on. I will keep them in a small notebook, which will be carried with me, all the "little time" can take a look, like I go to the gym every night, some people listen to music and watch TV on the treadmill, while I am running, I will also take a small notebook and take a look at it from time to time. I can remember a lot in 20 minutes. Many people say that there is no time. I think there will always be time to squeeze.

Read

I mainly read some foreign technical websites, blogs, and some original technical books. However, there are not many books in English, but the main reason is that the level is not enough. As I mentioned above, I will remember some words that I don't know, and I will fix them in a "small time" every day. Many people may conflict with English. When I first registered Twitter, I read it all in English and almost closed it directly. However, I finally registered and used it, now I am very comfortable with the full English interface. Therefore, adaptation is very important. As the vocabulary increases, you will find that reading English documents or blog articles is not as difficult as you think.

Heard

Listening and Speaking are the foundation of the language, but they are listed below, because in the work of many programmers, more information or documents need to be consulted in English, in contrast, there is little communication in English. However, if you have good skills and can speak fluent English, you will certainly have more opportunities in your career. I like watching American dramas very much, so I naturally "heard" that I also started with the American drama. "Friends" is a very good film used to practice oral English, and it is long enough for life. The first time I used Chinese subtitles, I first learned about the story content, and then I could use English subtitles to read and record frequently-used statements. I also used "small time" to remember it. It's not enough to remember it. You have to say that if there is no dialog environment, you can practice it in the mirror. I believe that the ability to read and hear from friends in the last 10 seasons will certainly increase to a certain level. Of course, it takes a lot of time to watch videos.
