How the Photoshop detailed resolution displacement filter works

When I first used Photoshop, I went straight to the filter menu and wanted to look at the awesome features that could make a lot of brilliant effects. For the first time in these menus, I saw this name: "Permutation." I tried the filter next to each other and finally came to the "permutation".

What the hell is this? After clicking without hesitation, a strange dialog box with unfamiliar parameters is present in front of me.

I am free to adjust the default parameters of the substitution filter, and the picture doesn't change at all.

Click "OK" and pop up a dialog box that lets me "select a displacement Map".

I was puzzled ... "Displacement Diagram"? What is this?

Later I learned that the "permutation" filter actually existed in Photoshop version 2.0. Its only purpose is to move pixels in your picture, the way to move is based on the "displacement map", "displacement map" is actually another separate PSD document, how far the pixel moves, moving in which direction is to refer to this PSD document picture.

We don't see any information in the parameters of the substitution filter, and we don't even have a preview function, which is probably why we don't use this feature very often. We want to get the results we want to try and cancel. However, if you know how this function works, your chances of success will be greatly improved.

The most common function of the displacement filter is to attach a texture to the target object. Of course, you can also attach this object to the texture. For example, if you want to draw an American flag on a brick wall.

Our general practice is to:

1. Open the brick wall picture;

2. Paste the flag picture on the new layer, then modify the blending mode to multiply, and the opacity set to 70%.

The result seems reasonable to us, but looking at it always feels awkward--the flag is too neat and the shape of the flag doesn't match the texture of the brick wall. The solution is to use the displacement filter, and the brick wall as a displacement map to "replace" the flag picture. Category:
