Article Title: how to access Linux partition files in Windows. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Including desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, open source, and some other basic categories. Many friends who transfer from Windows platform to Linux will not only install a Linux on the machine, windows is retained. in this way, if you are not familiar with Linux, you can switch back occasionally. After all, Windows desktop systems are very user-friendly. Access Windows partitions in Linux, especially for the old Fat partition, is very easy. You only need to mount the partition. Access to ntfs partitions is a little more complex and requires driver support. But sometimes, we also need to access Linux partitions from Windows systems. For example, after Windows is started, we suddenly want to view a file in Linux and do not want to restart the system. The following describes how to access Linux from a Windows system.

The most common tool is explore2fs. This tool can be downloaded for free and provides interfaces to facilitate expansion. The explore2fs operation is a graphical interface, and you only need to run it to know how to use it. This tool supports ext2 and ext3. It can also copy files from Linux partitions and is usually used to back up files. However, generally, tools that access Linux partitions do not provide write operations, and some do not use them as the default option even if writing is supported. The explore2fs description supports write operations, but I have not successfully written the changes as required.

The second tool is Ext2IFS. Unlike ipve2fs, Ext2IFS does not directly access Linux partitions from its interface, but runs as a windows service. The setting interface is graphical. After setting ext2 and ext3. start the service according to the operation steps, several new partitions will appear on my computer, these are the Mappings of Linux partitions. Then you can access them as you access the Windows file system. This tool also does not support write operations. (Save)

Another tool is called Ext2Fsd, which is the only one that has been successfully written in the tool I have used and directly provides the source code. Like Ext2IFS, Ext2Fsd is also used as a service to run in the background. when accessing Linux partitions, it is also accessed through the Virtual partition ing in my computer. However, you must use the command line to start a partition and know the specific location of the partition. For example, if a partition is located in the third partition of the first hard disk and I want to map it to f: disk, run the mount 0 1 f: Command :. But before that, remember to run setup, or the service will not run. Ext2Fsd does not open the write operation by default. You need to modify the Registry File Ext2fsd. reg, change WritingSupport to 00000001, and modify the configuration file ext2fsd. inf, change WritingSupport to 1. re-import the registry and start the service. The write operation can be completed successfully. (Save)

Accessing Linux partitions in Windows will bring a lot of convenience. For example, if I accidentally modify the fstab file and Linux cannot be started, simply modify the fstab file, then, use Ext2Fsd to open the write operation and modify the fstab, and the system will be restored successfully. However, writing operations are very dangerous. The authors of these software are not recommended to use them. Be careful when using them.
