Step 2: Open the Word2010 document window, and click an existing shape that is adjacent to the new shape or has a hierarchical relationship in the SmartArt image.
Step 2: In the Create Image Group on the SmartArt tools/design functional area, click the drop-down triangle button on the right of add shape,

Step 2: in the open add shape drop-down menu, there are five commands, representing different meanings:
(1) add a shape to the back: add a shape with the same level to the right or bottom of the selected shape;
(2) add a shape with the same level on the left or top of the selected shape;
(3) add a shape above: add a higher level shape on the left or top of the selected shape. If the selected shape is in the highest level, this command is invalid;
(4) Add a shape below: add a lower-level shape to the right or bottom of the selected shape. If the selected shape is at the lowest level, this command is invalid;
(5) add assistant: this is only applicable to a specific graph in a layered graph. It is used to add a level-1 shape lower than the selected shape.
Add a new shape of the appropriate level as needed.
