How to add an Intel USB 3.0 driver to an image on Windows 7

Windows 7 installation media does not support various USB 3.0 controllers. Therefore, Windows 7 may not be installed properly when you install Windows 7 on the chipset behind Intel Haswell (I .e: when you use a USB flash drive for installation, you are prompted to load the driver ). The main reason is that Intel's new platform no longer provides support for USB 2.0.

There are many ways to install Windows 7 on this chipset. The details are as follows:

1. Some models of BIOS can set OS Mode to Disable, and then Disable xHCI Mode under the Configuration menu;

2. Package the USB 3.0 driver in the root directory of Boot. wim, and then manually load the driver on the installation interface, but it needs to be loaded twice;

3. Install. wim directly in the WinPE environment using third-party system installation tools. The disadvantage is that third-party promotion software will be installed;

4. Add the USB 3.0 driver to Boot. wim and Install. wim using the built-in DISM command. Currently, it has the best compatibility and performance, but it takes a long time. Next, each image must be operated twice (the driver must be loaded twice );

According to the above situation, solution 4 should be ideal. However, using command line operations is too cumbersome and not conducive to operations. Therefore, we recommend a graphical tool, which is officially provided by Intel.

Procedure:

1. Download and decompress the Windows 7 USB Creator utility;

2. Insert the Windows 7 installation USB flash drive system image;

3rd, run the "installer_creator.exe" program in a management mode,

Note: After decompression, the root directory has a "USB_3.0_Win7_64_4.0.0.36" driver, which can be replaced and upgraded by yourself.

4. Click the button on the right of "USB Drive Path", select the root directory of the USB flash Drive installed on Windows 7 (that is, the USB Drive letter), and click "Create Image" to start the operation.

5. Wait until "Update finished!" is displayed !" This process can be 15 minutes or longer (mainly depends on the read/write performance of the USB interface and USB flash disk, and the number of system versions recognized by the tool in Install. WIM ).

Reminder: Although the tool is a graphical interface, what it does is to call the DISM command to add a driver. It takes some time to decompress and merge the WIM image.

Note:
Tip: We do not recommend you use the DISM command to add a driver, because BOOT. WIM and Install. WIM also needs to judge the Index (such as WinPE, Windows Startup, family edition flagship edition, and so on), if you do not know, even if the command is correct, it cannot be correctly used.
