How to assign documents in document collaboration

You can easily split a main document into separate subdocuments by following these steps:
1. Open the main document and switch to outline view by clicking the Outline View button on the right side of the status bar. As shown in Figure 2.

2, on the Open Outline tab, click the Show Document button in the master Document option group to expand the master Document option group. As shown in Figure 3.

3, click the group symbol to the left of the heading (
Select the headings and text that you want to split into subdocuments, and click the Create button in the master Document option group to create a separate subdocument for the selection. When the creation is complete, the system marks the portion with a dashed box. As shown in Figure 4.

4. Create other subdocuments in the main document in the same way, splitting the main document into separate sections.
5, click the Office Button, perform the Save As command, enter the file name of the main document in the Save As dialog box that opens, and then click the Save button to save the new main document and its subdocuments. As shown in Figure 5. ‘

Word automatically names the subdocument, and the saved main document and its subdocuments are shown in Figure 6 (where the user manual is the main document and the remaining 5 are subdocuments).

Once each subdocument is written by a different author, the steps to merge them back into the main document are as follows:
(1) Put each subdocument under the original directory.
(2) Open the master document (the user manual in this example is the master document).
(3) Click the Outline View button on the right side of the status bar (
To open outline view.
(4) Click the Show Document button in the master Document option group to expand the master Document option group.
(5) Click the Expand Subdocument button to expand the link for the subdocument in the master document. This allows you to see the subdocuments written by each author in the open master document. As shown in Figure 7.

6. Select these subdocuments and click the Unlink button in the master Document option group, at which point the dotted box that divides the subdocuments disappears and the subdocuments are merged into the master document again. As shown in Figure 8.

7, save the document again, at this time these subdocuments are merged into the original main document again.
