Backup using replicated methods
The principle of replication is to copy the Favorites files and directories to a secure directory.
Learn about the location of favorites. If installed on C disk and the system user name is Lastworldgirl, then the storage path for the favorites is c:documents and Settingslastworldgirl.
Find Favorites Use the Copy method for backup. Open Explorer, locate the Favorites directory, and simply copy the Favorites folder to another secure partition.
To recover, simply paste the backup favorite folder back into the original favorites file and replace it.
Use IE to import/export backup and recovery
Using IE's favorites export feature, it makes it easy to export favorites to other applications or files on your computer and save them in a secure directory.
Select "File" → "Import and export" in the IE menu and go to the Import/Export Wizard dialog box and click Next.
In the Import/Export Selection dialog box, select the Export Favorites option, click Next, select a directory in the Export Favorites source folder, and click Next.
Recommendation: Export directly from the default root node favorites, the default export file name is Bookmark.htm, but this feature is limited to IE5.0 versions. This export file bookmark.htm is generic, regardless of the operating system version, as long as the IE5.0 version can be imported.
In the Export Favorites Destination dialog box, click the Browse button to select the path to which you want to save your favorites backup file, and then click Next to Export.
Importing favorites is similar to exporting Favorites by selecting Import Favorites when you import/export selections, and choosing a good favorite folder when you import favorites from source.
