Method/Step
  1. The first method: directly copy the virtual disk files under the local host disk into the backup directory, and the next time you restore, open the files in the backup directory directly with VMware.

First, the virtual machine virtual disk file and the directory where the configuration file resides are displayed before the VMware virtual machine is opened and the mouse is placed in the name of the VMware machine that needs to be backed up.

  2. Go to the directory where the virtual disk and configuration files are located, copy all the files to the backup directory, or copy the previous level folder (here is win10x64) and rename it.

  3. Restore or migrate to another virtual machine.

Click "File (F)" In the top right corner of the VMware main screen, click "Open (O)" in the pop-up drop-down box, select the backup directory or copy the directory from someone else's virtual machine disk file.

  4. The second method: Export the VOF template file, or directly import the VOF template file when it is restored or used on another virtual machine.

First, open the VMware virtual machine, select the name of the virtual machine you want to export, then click "File (F)", click "Export as OVF (E)" in the pop-up dropdown box (the old version of the virtual machine appears to click "Export" and then click "Export OVF Panel")

  5. Select the directory where the OVF template is saved, the default file name is. OVF, you don't need to change it, just click the "Save" button.

  6. Then, wait for the slowly export, the more software installed in the virtual machine, the more files, the slower the export, so you have to look at their own situation, a long time do not worry.

  7. After exporting, there are 3 files found in the exported directory. Suffixes are. MF,. VOF, and. VMDK, respectively. MF file various virtual machine related configurations have been tampered with. The Vof file opens the virtualization format package to ensure proper correspondence between configurations, which is equivalent to a configuration file.

  8. Restore the virtual machine or use the exported VOF on another virtual machine.

Also in the VMware main interface, click "File (F)" in the upper right corner, click "Open (O)" in the pop-up drop-down box, select the OVF file in the recovery directory, click "Open" button.

  9. In the popup screen, select "Letter Virtual machine name (A)" and "Storage path for new virtual machine (P)", then click "Import" button. Wait for the progress bar to import successfully, and then restore the virtual machine. At this point, you can turn on the virtual machine when you're ready.
