Steps/Methods
1. Right-click My Computer, select Properties from the shortcut menu that pops up, open the System Properties dialog box, and click the Hardware tab.
2. In the window that appears, click the Hardware Profile button to open the Hardware Profiles dialog box, which displays a list of the hardware profiles available on the local computer in the Available hardware Profiles list.
3. In the hardware Profile selection area, users can choose which hardware profile to call when they start Windows XP (for example, multiple hardware profiles).
4. When backing up your hardware profile, click the Copy button, enter a new file name in the To text box in the Open Copy Configuration file dialog box, and then click OK.
Small suggestion
It is recommended that you back up your hardware profile every time you install or modify hardware, which can easily solve many of the system problems that are caused by hardware configuration.
